Art Forms...

Finding the right piece of art is no easy task. It has to grab you in some way. Color is a big factor too - that alone can be a deal breaker. Overall you have to buy pieces that will make you happy today and then day after day.

I love both of these images featuring inspiring pieces of art - they MAKE the rooms they're in. Art is creativity brought to life, but actually there are many forms of art....

I started thinking about this last evening as I went to a Barnes & Noble promotional event - my neighbor just co-wrote a book . It really struck me then how living in NYC is unique - you're surrounded by so many talented people. They're everywhere. Each one has their own story, and everyone is out there making their form of art happen.

In my building alone, I went to a play last month written and acted in by my neighbor. Before that I went to another production on Frank Sinatra based on a book written by another. It's one of several books for him, and he was a lead in the show. Today he told me he's working on another. Sounds a little like my renovations... We have a very successful designer and an architect living here too, and I'm sure there are more... My contractor, he brings my visions to life year after year - another artist. Take one look at my plaster ceiling and you can see that.

Last night was fun. The book is called Hire Me Hollywood. It's a compilation of the back stories behind several successful people in the entertainment industry. We all know success has no particular path, or we'd all be on it, but they did find several common threads. I'm excited to read it. I wonder...could there be a place for me in Hollywood? OK, back to reality...

Incidentally, one of my neighbors wrote it and another is in it. I grew up in a small town. This never happened there... Yep it's true what they say - only in New York.

I've been lucky enough to see your work first-hand so I know what a gifted artist YOU are! Thanks for the "Hire Me, Hollywood" shout out. It was great seeing you at my event the other night.
