Practical Dining Tip…

In NYC having a party with food usually involves standing and grazing or lap dining versus sitting around formal table. Lap dining can be tricky and a disaster waiting to happen...

Growing up we had the rule regarding food: no eating outside the kitchen or dining room. It worked like a charm - our furniture stayed nice and lasted for many years…

City living is a little different as compact spaces comes into play. My solution for parties? Lap trays. What I look for is something small, and stackable, but big enough to hold a plate and drink. Another must – find something that balances easily on your lap.

These square West Elm hammered silver trays are perfect – pretty and multi-functional they make entertaining easy and stress free… I use all the time and at my last party they were a hit.

Sometimes it's the small things that make life easier - this little trick may save your sofa from disaster one day...
