Double Take…

When I opened my Elle Décor yesterday I landed here and recognized a familiar love – this amazing chandelier. It’s been in the back of my mind for years for someone, maybe me, if I have a spot someday. The scale is great – it’s Big.

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the real thing many times during my shopping trips to Ochre - a very cool shop in the heart of SOHO on Broome Street. Ochre is a quintessential loft space with high ceilings, wood floors, tin ceilings, vintage glass room dividers, and several variations of this chandelier. It’s simple, earthy and elegant – very reminiscent of the loft apartment shown here.

It’s so similar in fact, that guess what? The owners of Ochre actually live here on Broadway, a stone’s throw away from their shop.

Well no wonder it looked so familiar… I love that they maintained the original character of the loft (great tin ceilings) and filled it with their recognizable style, which is clean and modern. Their kitchen is also unique with a twist – a long center island with display shelving versus the formal cabinetry seen in a typical kitchen. Interesting…

The vibe of their spaces is consistently relaxing, interesting, and elegant so if you want to see more, stop by their shop. It’s worth a trip, and if you have a few too many extra bucks in your pocket, pick up a chandelier – believe me, it’s a keeper.

The chandelier is to-die-for, now if only there was a little extra change in my pocket to buy it. ( =

I heard they came from London so I would love to see that store too. I would also love a crack at a loft like this...
