I’m a big fan of Carolyn Quartermaine and have been for many years. In fact I have a pile of her rooms going yellow in my save file, dating back years and years. First and foremost she’s an artist – a real one. Going a step further, she brings her artistic talent beyond the canvas to walls, fabric, and interior design. Wow…
I love how she constantly reinvents her surroundings, starting with a soft background, mainly white, and laying in color through objects, fabric, and art. She also infuses a lot of architectural elements and vintage lighting in her rooms - something I always have a soft spot for. I may have seen the same room many times, but not really. With her, it’s ever changing…
Everything she does always has that effortless casually thrown together look – in a good way. And clearly it’s not. Honestly, she even manages to make an unmade bed look attractive. No matter what she does, I always find myself wanting to be there… I could live in any one of her spaces and be happy to call it home.
Recently I saw her fabric firsthand – gorgeous with a capital G…. I love the calligraphy patterns, her infusion of gold accents, and the hand painted quality of her graphics - so much so that I’m always on the lookout for more.
I can’t wait to see what she does next... Here are some images from her website. I'll post more from my save file later. Pretty, pretty…
