Cheers...

This week has soooo gotten away from me…. Every minute since last week has been planned to the minute: from decorating, to shopping, to meeting-up with friends that live plane rides away, to last minute client requests - I’ve been running...

It got so crazy I considered skipping my tree this year. The trip up the ladder to drag down the decorations seemed like too much, and why, when I could enjoy Mom’s in a week. I’m so glad I didn’t…

On my way back in one night, I dragged my tree home. With dinner plans at 7:30, I got the lights on before I went out, and decorated it after – midnight by the time I finished. OK - this is my new tradition, the way to go… With amazing food and champagne in first, it’s easier and much more fun. I didn’t want to go to bed, it looked so pretty…

This was a great reminder - never cut corners on the holidays because you’re too busy. Holidays come once a year. The coziness of having a tree and enjoying the decorations is priceless, and nothing beats the smell of Christmas.

Tomorrow morning I jump on the train – home bound for Annapolis. I LOVE being home… My sister is picking me up from the train and from then on, I have 4 whole days with my absolute favorites. BUT before then, I wanted to wish you the best of everything that means Christmas to me: holiday decorating, traditions, once-a-year food, family, friends, and the candle light service on Christmas Eve where we sing silent night in the dark. And how could I leave out my Mom’s rum balls with morning coffee?

Cheers! Back next week…

PS: Thanks to BHG for these holiday images - they’re beautiful and spot on this season…
