Stepping It Up…

We’ve all seen the usual transitions between rooms – an arch or a standard rectangular opening framed with molding. Well here is a very different approach - a stepped transition without molding. This entrance has gone 3-D: more depth and drama build with each new layer.

Pretty cool. And that’s not all…

They also went off-road with the floor. The wood is laid on an angle radiating out from the center. Unlike a traditional chevron pattern that runs like parallel train tracks across the floor, this design is made from four widening and intersecting chevrons. Talk about unpredictable and eye-catching… It reminds me of napkin folding. Fold each corner of a square napkin into the center, and you have it.

I love how the same materials (wood + dry wall) installed differently take on unique personalities. This is creative thinking at its best, a must try. I can’t wait to show it to my contractor…
