A Good Egg…

I HAVE to HAVE a tub even though I shower every day. For me it’s not about the look of luxury, I actually really use mine. What better way to relax or warm up than a bath?

I spent a lot of energy finding my current tub, as I wanted cast iron, no slip resistance, standard size, deep without being too deep, and square. Sounds easy enough to find, but it took months. My choice, the Minna tub by Waterworks, is great but someday I want a bath that’s not also my shower - in the city, having both can be a stretch.

Freestanding tubs, although dreamy, take up more room than many of us have. Our bathrooms here on 81st are typically 5 feet wide by 7 to 10 feet long; and who wants to squeeze in a separate tub, when the only reward is a micro-mini shower stall?

Recently I was out shopping for a tub again, this time for a client. For her I found a great built in variety, and although I wasn’t looking for myself, I did find something…

Isn’t that always the way with shopping - when you aren’t looking you find a must-have and when you’re desperate, nothing. My find, a freestanding egg shaped tub, is 63 x 32, which is pretty close to a standard size tub (60 x 30) and it's much deeper. This was a big surprise, as most free standing eggs are far bigger,.

I think I may have found a rare thing – a good egg… Great style in just the right size.

BTW the white egg shaped tub is from a bathroom by Sixx Design – aka Bravo’s 9 by Design. Which reminds me - I hope season 2 is in the works. I can’t wait to watch what they do next...

Actually, the Novagratzs' will not be on another season with Bravo. However, I was crazy excited to find out they have been picked up by HGTV.
