Old Meets New Meets Fabulous

The inside pages of this week’s NYT House & Home section got my attention. I look forward to this section every week, and was happy to be inspired again this week...

A mansion in Buenos Aires bought for $300K underwent an old-meets new renovation. In NYC, 300K won’t buy you a 450 square foot studio apartment with no view, and a $200K renovation won’t take you very far. Not so here…

This old beaux-arts building needed everything, and the owners, on a strict budget, took a unique approach. By cleverly blending old world charm with a clean and modern aesthetic, they created an amazingly livable home, room by room. The original floors, ceiling plasterwork and iron staircase were all preserved. I absolutely love these details, and surprisingly they sit so well alongside modern rooms with no ornamentation at all.

Why choose one style over the other when you can have a little of both? Or rather with 8,000 square feet, quite a lot of both…

See for yourself and get inspired too:
