It’s That Time…

It’s a short week for me as I’m going home early for Thanksgiving. I love this time of year. I’m looking forward to the usual – family time, Marm’s cooking, relaxing, and shopping, BUT this year I have something else to look forward to - seeing my sister’s renovation.

Like me, she’s been renovating this year. Her project is a house, where as mine is an apartment, and believe it or not, they’ve taken about the same amount of time. Factoring in "the city "and a two man crew, no surprise...

She's ahead of me on the decorating front, and in fact the last time she was here, we shopped for fabrics. I can’t wait to see how everything came together. It will look Amazing – and perfect timing to inspire me to take steps in the same direction.

Renovation-wise there are still some things in the apartment that are not yet done, but less than you can count on one hand. That doesn’t mean they will happen in a week, as some are tricky, but at least the end of the renovation is in sight.

Yesterday my threshold went in under the front door. I was happy to see the original one go as it was dingy and cracked in several pieces. The entrance inside is next. That is the the only part of the apartment so far left untouched, the last reminder of the old apartment. Can't wait.

As I travel home I cannot help but think about this time last year - I was about to move into a 3rd temporary rental, as my apartment was unlivable. A lot has happened since then, for the better… Last year I was planning. This year its all come together.

Earlier in the week a city truck full of snowflakes came to light-up Columbus Avenue. One of them hangs right outside my window in a glow of white lights. I love it – a sign the holidays are here.

Happy Holiday and safe travels...

Kelly, I don't think I know where "home" is but I hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving. It would be nice to see your sister's renovation and be able to compare the different styles and choices. Please take pictures. xo, MB

This picture just draws me in. I love blue and white. My whole condo is in some form of blue and white. It makes me happy that you love blue and white too. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and enjoy your sisters new space too.

Seeing her place was great - she's still making the finishing touches. The kids were so excited about their rooms which was cute. I will ask for pictures once she is ready. Seeing the after, after seeing the before makes it really fun.

Home is Annapolis, MD. I grew up in Delaware but everyone relocated, so that's home now.

I love the blue and white too... The image was even prettier before the scan. I find it very soothing. I hope you had a fun holiday too. I just got back last night so I am still dragging, and am due for a hunger strike after all the great food.

Making a ranovation in your house or apartment can be tricky. At first, you think you will have lots of fun shopping for paint, fabrics, furniture and everything, but then you realize it is a lot of work. I decided to travel to argentina last year to visit my brother who lives there and also renovated his home. I believe after all you feel that it was worth it!
