Pink & Simple…

I’m a big believer in the power of simplicity at times. This is one of them…

Although the dressing area in what appears to be a bathroom is glammed-up with details, the bones are super simple – color bands of solid mosaics without trim. I probably wouldn’t think to do this, as it's so simple, it could look boring. Clearly it’s not.

Instead of pattern, why not reply on the sparkles created naturally by the mosaics and some decorative elements to create luxury in a room? At face value, plain mosaic would logically also be easier on the pocketbook, except in this case - they appear wall to wall, floor to ceiling.

Save some, spend some…

Another risk, which I also like, is the color - pink. It reminds me of growing up. We had a pink bathroom that came with the house, and instead of changing the tile, Mom went with it. Coming from a family of 3 girls, there were actually four - Mom. She frequently did her hair and make-up in there too. It was a great place for family bonding - fighting over brushes, curling irons, and hot rollers at the time. We inhaled a lot of hairspray in there. It also gave us a chance to decide who was wearing what. Dad was smart and steered clear of the pink bathroom...

After seeing this, I’d consider color bands. And as for the pink bathroom, I’d say yes to that in a New York minute.
