Better late than never….
Yesterday my nightstands of the moment arrived. They were lost in transit for over a month as the shipper put the wrong name on the box. I had all but given up….
Buying sight unseen you never quite know what you’ll get, so I had my fingers crossed I as unwrapped them to see...
Pretty - it's all about the shape. Curved into an oval, they are perfect for this apartment which has ovals and circles throughout. Trust me, this shape is not an easy one to find. Another plus - they are flat on the back so they sit flush against the wall. Turns out the size is also just right, not too big or too small, and the X bridge detail underneath is fun too.
Needless to say they need some work - no surprise, I knew that already. To make them my own and add that modern glam appeal I’m after, here’s the plan: have them stripped or sanded and sprayed a bright white. Next I’ll pretty-up the hardware and get rid of the gold- new drawer pulls and possibly polished metal feet. Adding a silver ball detail on the bridge could be cool... They also need new mirrored tops or as an alternative, some pretty marble - a great way to make use of my pretty kitchen leftovers....
In the end they’ll still be old but also quite new and more modern. Stay tuned….

For some reason my work browser isn't letting me see the photo but I love the description and as always, the plan to "Kelly-ize" the tables with details that make them spectacularly unique. Love the idea of bringing more of that gorgeous marble to the bedroom. Can't wait to see them!
I love the tables. How did you find someone/a business to spray your furniture? I would love to have a few things sprayed because they just look so much better than painting them myself. I've painted so many pieces and some turn out great, others not so great. I like mirror on top, but marble would be very pretty too.
Kelly,
Where in the world did you find these tables? They are fabulous and oh, so perfect for NYC living! I have to say I love them the way they are...they are perfection!
those are wonderful! glad you finally got them; seeing the unique size and shape, I am sure you feared you wouldn't find anything like them again!
Love the tables! I actually like them the way they are but can easily see how the marble and silver would update them. I also love it when a shape is repeated throughout a space.
Ironically, I took some end tables and did a similar finish on them last year.
Can't wait to see everything all done. Do you have any photos of anything you can share now? Thanks!
They are OMG and so worth waiting for.....they will be down right spectacular by the time you finish with them. Congradulations it is so much more special to find and create a piece rather than just pulling out a big check book.
I shop all over the place, but these actually came from ebay. There is a messy antiqued finish over the paint, so they really need some work. I plan to have my cabinet maker do the spraying, although brush painting could also work if they are sanded well enough. As we speak I am getting a quote on stripping from 2 vendors, fingers crossed it's not too bad. I also plan to do something nice inside the drawers so they look pretty inside and out. I just may have my cabinet maker knock these off someday. There's nothing like the old stuff...
