My Little Pick-Me-Up

After months of dust, dirt, and chaos I was in need of a serious pick-me-up. Settling on a quick fix, I went for new bedding to complement my changing color scheme Рwhite, silver, and pale blue vs. my years of cr̬me. Another inspiration - my sister coming in this weekend. Cleaning is impossible for the most part, but I still want the place to look pretty, so I went out in search of pretty. Turned out I didn't have far to go - off to Gracious Home.

I’ve had my eye on this pattern from Matouk for a while, very simple and stylish. I love it, and it comes in the perfect blue, one of many colors if you like it too...

I have to say it’s amazing what this small change has done for my perception and well-being, because although I’ve been making my bed throughout the renovation, I've seen nothing but a mess until now. And yes I kid you not, I'm feeling different. I actually enjoyed making my bed again, and it may seem strange, but I’d swear I’m even sleeping better…

And while we’re taking bed-making, here’s a little tip I picked up from Rachel Ashwell whose shop used to be just outside my window. Put a zipper at the open end of your pillow case to keep it fully closed, like a mini duvet for your pillow. This keeps your pillow inside the case and creates a nice polished look. It's' all about easy and looking good, and it works - a keeper.

So if you need a little pick-me-up, even something as small as new pillow cases can do the trick. I’m happy – could work well for you too…

The sheets are very pretty. I've always loved detail on the sheets.

I've lived with cream for years and think about transitioning to all white as well but somehow the white seems a bit stark, especially for linens for myself. (For my son, I use all white linens.) I'll be interested to hear how you like it. I have had cream linens with embroidery/lace effect on them for years and really like them.

When will we get to see pictures of the bathroom? I was hoping to see some soon as opposed to waiting until the entire reno was done.

Dream mum, I understand you wanting to see pictures of the bathroom and I also understand from doing renovations that I think we have to wait because the interim photos always still look messy.....lucky we are getting a very good visual description.....I know it is an exciting process.

Its hard as there is so much undone or partially done that getting a good shot is not possible at the moment. Between wires, open ceilings and all the construction mess, it is really not at all picture pretty. Trust me. In fact most people would never be living here yet.
