Good Leftovers

The bathroom is nearly there with the exception of marble for my vanity, a window sill and the door saddle. I only need a small amount, but the color needs to work with my sparkly mosaic. A full slab is not needed here, but rather some really good leftovers.

Fingers crossed for luck, I headed to my local fabricator. The fabricator cuts the stone, so they don’t stock inventory, but they do have stray pieces in the back left over from other jobs. Shopping this way is always a gamble, as they have what they have…

My options in gray and white were limited, but I managed to find one scrap that will work for all three pieces, and being there in person allowed me to choose the exact location of the cuts for the prettiest design. The price varies greatly, dictated by the type of stone and the edge detail. In fact, a fancier edge drove the price up double – more hand work, more money.

In two days everything will be ready, and if I’m lucky I’ll have a sink soon after. Thank goodness, because I’ve had it with brushing my teeth in the bath tub…

I can't wait to see this bathroom; it sounds so glam. I hope you get your sink soon; that's pretty rough with the whole toothbrushing thing.

Thanks for answering my question on the grout. Your floor sounds AMAZING.

My next post was inspired by your grout question - thanks for asking. They delivered my sink top yesterday so I'm seeing the light...
