Feathers, Feathers and More Feathers...

This feather ball chandelier has been on my wish list since I saw it many years ago at Moss… At 36 inches it is an absolute knock out! It was created by German designer, Heike Buchfelder, who covered a steel frame with thousands of creamy-white goose feathers. The light, a soft glow, comes from one low wattage compact fluorescent bulb within.

I was lucky enough to see it again when I visited the lovely home of the design duo Sixx Designs. Their home was part of the Junior League House Tour and the feather ball chandelier was the crown jewel of their master bedroom. Incidentally they just released their first book which covers the chronology of their design projects and wouldn’t you know – there it is again gracing the cover! I just bought the book yesterday and cannot wait to read it. More on that another day….

This feather ball is absolutely stunning not to mention soothing. It will not add much in the way of light, but the atmosphere it brings to a room is amazing. At the time I felt I did not have the space for it but now – just maybe. A dollar and a dream – I better start playing lotto….
