What to Wear?

I have 2 short weeks until House Tour so I’m down to the wire and the finishing touches. One of those includes finding something to wear. This, as any girl knows, can be stressful when you really need something, and fast..

Time to go shopping – something that’s been foreign to me for a while. This happens every time. Once you start a renovation, shopping for clothes falls to the bottom of the list in favor of all things apartment, then by the time you finish, you need a whole new wardrobe…

There are several little boutiques on the Upper West Side so the plan was to start there, but in doing a few errands, I dropped into Anthropologie. I made my best attempt, but instead of clothes, guess what I ended up with? A decorating book - surprise, surprise. I had to laugh. Old patterns die hard.

Whenever I see a new decorating book I scan it to see if I have space for it or not. I have to be selective. Decorate, my newest book, comes to us from another blogger, Holly Becker of Decor8 and Joanna Copestick. I love Holly’s blog and loved her book before I even drew the connection. This is my kind of book – it’s all about the details behind the design, not to mention page after page of amazing rooms. Go check it out and read more about the story behind her book and the launch on her blog.

So back to the clothes dilemma…. I found something as it turns out right in my front yard – or rather just outside my window. I can see Mint prefectly from my front window, and I love it for more than clothes - the storefront staya lit up at night, making my view even more magical.

Now that I found my dress, I should be able to cross it off my list but no, the designer in me needs to add a little something – new sparkly buttons. They're gorgeous. I do this all the time. There are so many great button and trim shops here in NYC, and knowing they’re out there makes customizing hard to resist, even if it means one more errand and another thing to do – sew them on…

That's great! My Mom sent me a subscription so let me know when...

The dress is a casual printed dress with a drawstring at the waist and little sleeves above the elbow. It will be really comfortable that day and I'll wear it a ton after.

Where is your favorite button shop in NYC?! I just started avidly reading your blog and I come home (to NYC) next Sunday.... I cannot count the number of dresses I sent home to my mother to save in need of some redesigning... & even apart from the dresses I am always looking for buttons!
