I recently ran across this in my Save File – House Beautiful Vintage 2003. Designed by Albert Hadley, this room is referred to as The Crystal Room. No wonder. There’s no shortage of sparkle here…
For starters, the room is round or oval maybe from what I can see. I’ve always wanted one of these, ever since I saw my very first one in the Ansonia years ago. Amazing and inspirational…
But the real eye catcher is the placement of mirrored mosaics between the pilasters. Here the walls disappear like magic and the result is fantastic. It’s so subtle and glam. I’ve used mirror in this way before, but in larger pieces not mosaics – what a game changer,..
The pieces distort the reflected image, while letting mirror do what it does best – create space, sparkle and light. I love it, and in a curved space it’s absolutely brilliant, as mosaics will make the turn unlike a solid sheet of glass.
Someday I want my own Crystal Room. And why not, I have the crystal already – a ton of it….

Love that you keep all of your magazine. Me too! I'm the same with design books too. Bit of an obsession!!!
I wish I could keep all of them but because I am low on space, I only save pages. Sometimes I have no idea where they came from or how old they are. I am getting up there with my design books as well - uh oh...
