Perfect Blend...

This image shows the perfect blend of modern and traditional – super traditional panel molding everywhere paired with a modern bold geometric floor.  It’s funny, there's a LOT of pattern going on here, but somehow it doesn’t register that way.  Instead it looks calm, classic, elegant, and super chic.  The trick is the minimal color palate – just 2, a lot of one and enough of another.   

We’ve all seen rooms like this one painted many different colors and leafed in gold.  They look dated, busy, and anything but modern.  I find myself redesigning these spaces in my head all the time – a one color makeover would change everything…in a good way. 

I have to say I never ever tire of this classic look paired with modern elements, and apparently retailers don’t either.  It sells…  I see it popping up again and again in magazines selling anything from expensive clothes, to furniture, to a lifestyle people dream they had...
