Accessory Love…

I’m a collector of things – pretty things. Here on the mantle is one of my list toppers.

Vintage and sculpture-like, these fun accessories are dual purpose – art plus vase all in one. I fell in love with the circular shape and the pattern at first sight, and have been collecting them ever since. I have a range of sizes. The ones shown here are saucer size, while my biggest is larger than a dinner plate - it’s absolutely stunning!

BUT I have to admit I’m still thinking about the one that got away…. It was small and too expensive so I passed. I’ve not seen one since, so now I’m obsessed with finding one. If you see it in your travels, let me know...

Well recently while shopping in SOHO I found plates in a similar pattern at the MOMA store. OK, I’m tight on space, but I Really want them. Looks like something will have to go…

So this got me thinking… What are you out there looking for?

A few months ago I saw the most beautiful antique salt and pepper shakes on eBay. They weren't much but one of the tops was broken so I didn't buy it. I learned later that I could have purchased a top separately from an antique vendor. The pattern was Cambridge Rose Point and the one I wanted was the salt/pepper shakers with the sterling top; It's pointed and is much prettier than the other tops (they make them with multiple tops).

The other thing that I've never seen again is this parlor chair-I found it on Craigslist and it came with a sofa as well; I tried to purchase just the chair but he sold both. The back was unique, it was actually heart shaped with wood carvings and in a hot pink color. Granted, the fabric had seen better days but I searched all over the internet for one like it and I've never seen one like that.

I collect vintage white pagodas.

Which plates did you like at MOMA?

Love the mantle.

The pattern is dew drop. What they refer to as the platter is 12.5 inches, so I would use it as a dinner plate. They also have small bowls. The pattern like the vase is is concentric rings of 3D glass beads on the underside - very cool.

I had no idea you can get new s&p tops for old shakers - I am in need of a few of those myself! Thanks...

Oh, those would make beautiful plates, if only I could afford it! And the vase sounds very cool!
