Picture Perfect

This kitchen in House Beautiful was different - in a good way. The owners were striving to make the kitchen look more like a dining room by designing the functional elements to look like furniture. The island doubles as the table and workspace and their sink base as a buffet.

By cleverly placing a grouping of pictures over the sink, and having the faucet wall-mounted, they are able to steer your eye away to the point that you almost forget it is there. Brilliant - I love it. To change it up a little on occasion, they swap out the prints - another great reason to keep collecting art.

I frequently try when I can to camouflage the technical elements of a room and really got a kick out of their perspective on just that. Very entertaining and fun, I call this idea a keeper - nothing short of picture perfect.
