Arches + More Arches...

I have always been drawn to curves and arches, especially in doors and windows, and try to incorporate them in renovations whenever I can. As you would expect installation of arched openings is somewhat trickier, as trim moldings must be created custom from a template - more work but definitely worth the extra effort.

Arches offer a style that is subtly different from the more traditional rectangular openings, bringing with them that extra little bit of drama and character.

One day I happened upon this travel site and I saw this hotel in France owned by the Waldorf Astoria - Trianon Palace Versailles. In and instant I wanted to go there. Look at all these arched openings –surely I’m in heaven…

I have my eye on a set or arched French doors right now but no place for them – talk about incentive. Better look again...

So very pretty. I would love to go there too; the photos were amazing. So romantic. Makes me want to get married there or at least engaged there. What a beautiful setting.

I especially love the second photo. I love the arched doors and how you can look through to the other rooms. And the settee in the foyer looks inviting from the bold color to the fabric, makes you want to have to sit down and wait for something. LOL!

As for curves, I have curves or arches in a lot of my furniture. It always adds a feminine touch.

I agree. I loved the second shot too. The black, white and green is fantastic and the round settee is just like the one I posted about previously in House Beautiful - want one...
